Crystal Lake Central, Prairie Ridge Fall in First Round of Playoffs
It was a rough night Friday for both Crystal Lake teams.

UPDATE: Two Crystal Lake football teams will not be continuing on in the 6A Illinois High School Association (IHSA) playoffs after rough losses Friday night.
Crystal Lake Central lost 38-15 Friday night to Hinsdale South. The Northwest Herald reports the “Tigers treated the Hornets” to four fumbles, a blocked punt, an interception and a kickoff recovery, which players said made the difference in Friday’s game.

Another local team, Prairie Ridge, also lost in the first round of the playoffs Friday. Lake Community High School, a No. 3 seed, won 38-14 against Prairie Ridge, a No. 14 seed.
Prairie Ridge’s Brent Anderson told the Northwest Herald that a blocked field goal attempt could have made all the difference in the game. The potentially game-tying 27-yard field goal by Chris Eschweiler was blocked by Lakes’ Ethan Sage and Prairie Ridge did not get another chance to take the lead Friday night, the newspaper reports.
