Torch May Have Caused Fire at Business: Fire Officials
The blaze occurred at Diesel Redemption.
CRYSTAL LAKE , IL — The use of a diesel torch at a business in Crystal a Lake is believed to have caused a structure fire Monday, fire officials said. Firefighters responded to Diesel Redemption, 6207 Commercial Drive, just before 3 p.m. where they found a large amount of smoke coming from the building. A fire wall prevented the blaze from spreading throughout the building, but the business did not have sprinklers and the roof and part of a wall collapsed in the area where the fire started, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Fire/Rescue Department.
No one was injured in the fire.
Authorities closed Virginia Road between Teckler and Berkshire Drive for more than an hour due to the heavy smoke.
