Crystal Lake Man, 24, Dies at Steel Supply Company in Schaumburg

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — An investigation is underway into the death of a 26-year-old Crystal Lake man who died Thursday morning at a steel supply company in Schaumburg, authorities said. Cook County Medical Examiner's Office spokeswoman Natalia Derevyanny told the Daily Herald Adrian Gomez, 26, was pronounced dead at 10:40 a.m. at Earle Jorgensen Co., also known as EMJ Metals, on Mitchell Drive in Schaumburg.

Gomez's death is now being investigated by the Schaumburg Police Department and U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration, according to the Chicago Tribune. Scott Allen, a spokesman for the agency’s Chicago office, told the newspaper federal investigators were at EMJ Metal on Thursday "conducting interviews with the employer, employees and any potential witnesses, to try to determine what occurred."
