Crystal Lake Man Hit By Car, Killed After Stopping To Help Crash Victim
The crash happened along Route 59 in South Barrington during the early morning hours of the Fourth of July.

SOUTH BARRINGTON, IL - A Good Samaritan from Crystal Lake was killed after stopping to help an SUV driver who was injured early Tuesday in a rollover crash in South Barrington. The 60-year-old Crystal Lake man has been identified as Delbert G. Gandy, according to media reports.
Gandy witnessed the 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer go off the road on Route 59 near Bartlett Road at about 1:15 a.m. on the Fourth of July when he pulled over to assist the accident victim, the Chicago Sun-Times reports. While trying to help, Gandy was hit by a 2014 Lincoln MKX driven by a 53-year-old St. Charles woman.
Gandy was taken to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates where he was later pronounced dead, according to the Daily Herald. The driver of the Trailblazer, a 21-year-old Carpentersville woman, was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.

The St. Charles woman was not injured, according to the Barrington Courier-Review.
No charges have been filed in the incident and the crash remains under investigation.
