Crystal Lake Man Pleads Guilty In Reckless Driving Case That Left 2 Seriously Injured
The collision happened in Algonquin in June 2024.
A 20-year-old Crystal Lake man, Avery Marty, pleaded guilty to aggravated reckless driving in connection with a head-on collision in Algonquin in 2024 that seriously injured two people.
One victim suffered a lacerated spleen, abdominal injuries, and rib fractures, while another sustained a broken arm in the crash near Randall Road and Harnish Drive. Marty was sentenced to two years of probation and 30 months of public service, and several other charges were dismissed as part of the case, Shaw Local is reporting.
The collision happened at about 9:45 p.m. on June 29, 2024 when a white sedan headed south on Randall Road near Bunker Hill Road lost control, hit a curb and crossed over the centerline and into northbound lanes of traffic, colliding with a northbound dark-colored sport utility vehicle, according to a news release from the Algonquin Police Department.

The collision left one woman with serious injuries, including rib fractures, a laceration to her spleen and an abdominal injury that required partial removal of her colon, according to court documents. Another person suffered a fractured arm and wrist.
Authorities said Marty's reckless driving lead to the crash.
