Crystal Lake Man Sentenced For Pushing Deputy
The 60-year-old man was sentenced to three years behind bars at the McHerny County Jail.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A 60-year-old Crystal Lake man who pushed a McHenry County Sheriff's Office deputy who was arresting his wife in 2017 has been sentenced to three years in prison, the Northwest Herald is reporting. Steven A. Richter, who was recently diagnosed with cancer, must serve 50 percent of his sentence.
The McHenry County Sheriff's Office was called to Richter's home on Dec. 1, 2017, for a noise complaint when Richter's wife, Natalie Richter, hit the officer's hand, which caused the officer to drop her flashlight, the Northwest Herald is reporting. According to a sheriff's office complaint, Steven Richter then pushed the sheriff's deputy in the back when she tried to arrest Natalie.
Natalie Richter has since been sentenced to one year of conditional discharge and 30 hours of public service on a disorderly conduct charge. Steven Richter entered a blind guilty plea in June 2019 on a felony aggravated battery to a peace officer charge.
