Crystal Lake Man Stole From Church Program For Needy: Police

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL — A 59-year-old Crystal Lake man is accused of stealing more than $10,000 from a Catholic parish's outreach program, which provided funds for those in need, according to authorities. Christopher C. Trimpe, who worked as the business manager at Resurrection Catholic Church in unincorporated Woodstock, was arrested Thursday and charged with theft in McHenry County Court.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into Trimpe after the Diocese of Rockford contacted them regarding the misappropriation of funds, according to a sheriff's office news release. Authorities say Trimpe started taking money from 2014, and used between $10,000 and $100,000 for his own personal use.

A warrant was issued this past week for Trimpe's arrest.

Trimpe has since been released on bond and is expected in court in McHenry County Friday morning.
