The board met Thursday night to vote on the matter and decided to keep the police department in place, with plans to discuss the budget and police duties in the future, according to Shaw Local News Network.
The Crystal Lake Park District board is expected to vote this week on whether the park district department should be kept or nixed.

Talks over whether the 100-year-old police agency should be disbanded have been in the works for months. Reasons for disbanding the park district police department included saving resources and money since a lot of the park police department's responsibilities overlap with the city of Crystal Lake police duties, Shaw Local News Network is reporting.
