Crystal Lake Police Issue 49 Citations for Distracted Driving During Campaign
The police department upped enforcement efforts from April 24 to April 28.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - The Crystal Lake Police Department handed out 49 citations during a campaign last month aimed at cutting back on distracted driving. The police department upped its enforcement efforts to focus on distracted driving violations between April 24 and April 28, according to a news release. During the campaign, officers also handed out 73 warnings for distracted driving and 130 educational flyers to motorists stopped for distracted driving.
The efforts was part of a statewide effort, which involved several police departments upping enforcement to address distracted driving.
"The Crystal Lake Police Department takes traffic safety seriously, as it is a primary role and function of our organization that benefits all who travel in and through Crystal Lake," Deputy Chief Derek Hyrkas said in a news release. "We will continue to participate in campaigns such as this with the goals of promoting good driving." behaviors and reducing traffic crashes."
