Crystal Lake Police Issue 58 Citations During St. Patrick's Day Traffic Enforcement
Local police stepped up patrols during the recent enforcement effort.

The Crystal Lake Police Department issued 58 traffic citations during a recent traffic enforcement program held over the St. Patrick's Day holiday, according to a news release.
Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois, including Crystal Lake, participated in this statewide effort from March 15 through March 20, focusing on seat belt and drunken driving violations.
As a result of these additional patrols, the Crystal Lake Police Department stopped 74 motorists for traffic violations and issued 58 traffic citations, which included:

- 38 citations for unlawful use of an electronic communications device
- 11 citations for speeding
- 4 citations for other moving violations and equipment
- 3 citations for safety belt citations
- 2 citation for operation of an uninsured motor vehicle
In addition, 3 motorists were arrested for the following offenses:
- One subject for driving while license revoked
- One subject for driving while license suspended and obstructing identification
- One subject for speeding, 26-34 MPH over the speed limit
The recent law enforcement crackdown was funded by federal traffic safety funds through IDOT’s Division of Traffic Safety and is part of the statewide “Drive Sober or Get Pulled over” and “Click it or Ticket” campaigns.
