Crystal Lake Pot Deal Called In, 2 Arrested: Cops

The accused may serve up to five years in prison for the pot deal, if convicted.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Police caught a Wauconda man and a 17-year-old after allegedly participating in a pot deal, according to reports. Trevor O'Neill, 22, was arrested in Crystal Lake and posted bail over the weekend, the Northwest Herald reported.

It started when police got a 911 call Friday about a potential drug deal near Route 176 and Terra Cotta Avenue.

Police arrived and found O'Neill's car, which he was driving, with a 17-year-old passenger. They stopped him and found over a pound of marijuana in the car, Crystal Lake Deputy Police Chief Derek Hyrkas said in an email, according to the Herald.

O'Neill was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, manufacturing and delivering marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia, the Herald reported.

O'Neill was released on $4,000 bail posted Sunday. He is due in court on Wednesday.

While the 17-year-old will go through the juvenile court system, O'Neill faces up to five years in prison if convicted of the most serious charge, delivery of marijuana, according to the Herald.
