Crystal Lake's Amy Rink Makes UW Whitewater Softball Team
Freshman from Crystal Lake will play on the 2012-2013 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater softball team.

WHITEWATER, Wis. 03/26/2013 -- Amy Rink, a freshman physical education major from Crystal Lake, made the 2012-13 University of Wisconsin-Whitewater softball team.
The UW-Whitewater softball team has won eight WIAC regular-season titles, with the most recent in 2009. With nine starters returning from last season, the team is hopeful that with this established experience, anything is possible.
"The team has worked at getting stronger and quicker so I believe that will help us a lot, especially late in the season," said Brenda Volk, head coach. "These athletes have worked hard so far, so I am anxious to see how this season goes."

When the players are not on the field, they are giving back to the community. The team organized a fundraiser to help raise money for a former UW-Whitewater softball player whose daughter was born with a heart defect and eventually received a heart transplant.
