Crystal Lake Teen, Father Separated, Face Deportation

The father and daughter face deportation after missing a hearing in immigration court a year ago.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A local teen and her father face deportation after they missed a court hearing a year ago in immigration court, the Northwest Herald reports. Meydi Guzman, a student at Crystal Lake Central High School, has been separated from her father, Fabio Guzman-Reyes, at a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention center due to the missed hearing, according to the newspaper.

The father and daughter fled to the U.S. from Honduras to try to escape a gang Guzman says raped her and threatened to kill her, according to the article.
