Crystal Lake Woman To Compete In Miss Amazing Pageant
Gloria Fisher, 29, was recently named Miss Amazing Illinois and will compete on July 28 at National Miss Amazing Summit.

CRYSTL LAKE, IL — A 29-year-old Crystal Lake woman will be heading to Nashville, Tennessee, next week to compete at the National Miss Amazing Summit.
Gloria Fisher was recently named Miss Amazing Illinois in the Senior Miss Division. Miss Amazing "is a national self-esteem movement for girls and women with disabilities," and includes an annual pageant-style program.
Fisher told the Northwest Herald she first became interested in pageants while watching the TLC Network's "Toddlers and Tiaras," and learned about Miss Amazing while in high school. She moved into an independent-living home in Crystal Lake in 2019 but didn't end up signing up to compete until after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Fisher will be headed to Nashville, Tennessee, to take part in the National Miss Amazing Summit, which will be held on July 28. The pageant is open to any girl or women over the age of 5 years old.
The pageant program has given her, and others with disability, the chance "to do something fun, and look amazing, and feel amazing, and show society they can be more than their disability," Fisher told the Daily Herald.

"Winning this made me feel like I could do anything, that I actually got recognized for talent that I didn't realize was recognizable," Fisher said.
Fisher, and other Miss Amazing contestants, are raising money to cover the costs to travel to the National Miss Amazing Summit. So far, she has raised more than $4,000 as part of an online fundraiser and anyone interested in making a donation can do so here. The funds will help pay for hotels and other travel costs for Fisher and her family.
