Cub Scouts to Plant Trees at Volo Bog

Cub Scout Pack 3815 and their families will plant trees at the bog.

State of Illinois: Members of local Cub Scout Pack 3815 and their families will spend Sunday, Nov. 3 planting trees at Volo Bog State Natural Area. Donated by the Illinois Conservation Foundation, the oak trees planted will be part of an oak savannah and woodland restoration effort.


Following the tree planting, the Cubs Scouts will have the opportunity to explore the marsh wetland surrounding Volo Bog as well as view native trees, plants and wildlife.

An Illinois Nature Preserve and National Natural Landmark managed by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), Volo Bog State Natural Area is home to the southern-most open-water quaking bog in North America to exhibit al states of quaking bog development and offers 18 different educational programs.

Media are invited to attend the tree planting beginning at 10:30 a.m. IDNR and Volo Bog State Natural Area staff, as well as leaders and members of the Cub Scout pack, will be on hand for pictures and interviews.
