D47 Pays $115K to Settle Racial Bullying Lawsuit

Crystal Lake Elementary School District 47 has agreed to pay a $115,000 settlement in a federal lawsuit brought by a family alleging racial bullying and civil rights violations.
The District 47 School Board approved the settlement last month, according to Shaw Local. As part of the lawsuit, the father of a former Lundahl Middle School student sued the school district alleging civil rights discrimination after the student was accused of holding a fake gun made out of paper in the school last year.
