McHenry County Coroner Dr. Michael Rein said his office was notified by Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital at around 11 a.m. on June 6 regarding the death of an 8-year-old boy. The child had been transported by ambulance from Crystal Lake to the hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

An autopsy was performed on June 9. Toxicology testing remains pending, and the cause and manner of death have not yet been determined, according to the coroner's office.

The McHenry County Coroner's Office said there have been no updates since its initial announcement on June 11, when officials said toxicology results were pending and the investigation remained ongoing.

The McHenry County Coroner's Office, Crystal Lake Police Department and Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital continue to work collaboratively as the investigation proceeds.
