Declining Enrollment Prompts D155 to Layoff Teachers

The move will save the Crystal Lake-based school district $1.2 million.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - As enrollment declines at District 155 schools, the school district plans to reduce hours for 10 full-time and five part-time teachers to help offset a $1.6 million deficit for the upcoming fiscal year the Northwest Herald reports. The reductions should save the school district $1.2 million.

Currently, 6,245 students are enrolled within District 155 and 6,030 will be enrolled for the 2017-2018 school year, according to the newspaper. A final budget hearing will take place in July or August.
