District 26 Appoints New School Board Member

Melinda Hartman will replace Len Kazmer who resigned from his position in April.

CARY, IL – The Cary District 26 school board has elected Melinda Hartman to fill a vacant seat at its May 20 meeting. Hartman will replace Len Kazmer who resigned from his position in April. Hartman will serve through the April 2021 general election, according to a District 26 news release.

Hartman was one of six candidates that applied and was interviewed by the school board for the
vacant seat.

“All six candidates were highly qualified for the position, which made it a very difficult decision for the school board,” District 26 Superintendent Brian Coleman said. “We look forward to Mrs. Hartman’s contribution to the Board and her service to District 26.”

Hartman and her husband have two young children, one of which will be attending kindergarten in District 26 this coming year. Hartman is an attorney and partner at Manassa Hartman, P.C. located in Barrington. She holds a law degree from DePaul University with a focus on family law in her current practice.

Hartman shared during her interview that one of the key criteria that brought them to Cary was the great reputation of the school system and believes that maintaining great schools is one of the key pillars upon which our amazing community is built.
