District 47 Hosts Internet Information Event For Parents
Learn about the top 10 apps kids are using these days and how to keep your kids safe online.

From Crystal Lake Schools: As part of the digital citizenship program -- Project B3: Be safe. Be smart. Be kind. -- being presented to D47 middle schoolers in January, parents will have an opportunity to learn the concepts behind Project B3 and put technology plans into action at home through a presentation called “The Parent Feed.” The Parent Feed event is free and open to ALL D47 parents and will be held on Wed., Jan. 10th from 7:00 pm-8:30 pm at Bernotas Middle School, 170 N. Oak St. in Crystal Lake. Project B3 founder, speaker and media professional Matt Batt will walk parents and guardians through the top 10 apps kids are using right now and provide advice on how to make decisions when handling issues of digital responsibility at home.
According to Dave Jenkins, assistant superintendent of technology services, “As students continue to access Internet-based resources at a younger age -- especially through social media, gaming systems, and cell phones -- it is imperative that we provide them the education and tools to navigate the digital world in which they live.”
D47 parents are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to join the community-wide initiative to help create a safer, smarter, kinder online environment for all students. Questions about the Project B3 program and/or The Parent Feed event can be directed to Denise Barr, coordinator of community relations, at dcbarr@d47.org.
