E-Bike Rider, 22, Seriously Injured In Crash: Police

The man was hospitalized after an e-bike collided with pickup truck Monday night at Richmond and McCullom Lake roads in McHenry, police said

MCHENRY, IL — A 22-year-old man was seriously injured Monday night when the e-bike he was riding collided with a pickup truck in McHenry, police said.

The crash happened around 8:05 p.m. Sept. 14 at Richmond Road and McCullom Lake Road, according to the McHenry Police Department.

Police said the man was riding a MTB1 Moto-bike F-30 eastbound on McCullom Lake Road and turned north onto Richmond Road in front of a northbound GMC pickup truck driven by a 38-year-old man.

The e-bike rider, who was the only person on the bike, was treated at the scene and taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital before being transferred to Advocate Condell Medical Center for additional treatment. He was listed in stable condition as of the time of the police department's news release.

The pickup driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, while witnesses provided information to police. The McHenry County Regional Crash Assistance Team also responded to help investigate the crash, which remains under investigation.
