Easter Storm Damages Homes at Crystal Lake Manufactured Home Park

The storm early on Easter morning came without warning.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL -- City officials in Crystal Lake are asking the National Weather Service to come out and survey damage from a freak storm that hit a manufactured home park early on Easter Sunday, resulting in severe damage to some homes but thankfully no injuries, the Northwest Herald reports.

Residents in the Oakbrook Estates manufactured home park told the Northwest Herald the storm came without warning shortly after midnight and brought hail and strong winds that knocked down trees, ripped off roofs and sent lawn furniture flying.

Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Chief Paul DeRaedt and Public Works Director Mike Magnuson were out surveying the damage on Monday and DeRaedt said the city plans to ask the National Weather Service to come out as well to determine what exactly caused the damage, according to the Northwest Herald.

We certainly had some kind of wind event here, maybe straight-line winds, a microburst or a small tornado,” DeRaedt said.
