Elderly Woman Found Dead Outside Home in Bitter Cold

The 70-year-old woman had signs of cold exposure but a final cause of death has not yet been determined.

WOODSTOCK, IL - Authorities are investigating the death of a 70-year-old woman who was found dead outside her home in Woodstock Monday morning, McHenry County Coroner Anne L. Majewski said.

The elderly woman was found by a caretaker at 9 a.m. and was pronounced dead at 9:23 a.m., Majewski said. An examination Tuesday revealed the woman had signs of cold exposure.

“Final cause of death is pending further studies,” Majewski said. “There was no evidence of foul play.”

The Woodstock Police Department is also investigating the death. The name of the woman is being withheld pending notification of all family.
