Elderly Woman Narrowly Misses Being Hit By Van After Crash Into Home: Authorities

Elderly resident unharmed after vehicle crashes into Woodstock home; minor gas leak and structural damage reported.

WOODSTOCK, IL — A vehicle drove into a home on Thursday evening, but the elderly resident inside escaped without injury, fire officials said.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to the collision at about 8 p.m. in the 2400 block of Applewood Lane. While en route, crews were alerted that the vehicle may have struck a residence.

Firefighters confirmed shortly after arriving that the vehicle had collided with a home at the corner of Aspen Drive and Applewood Lane, causing moderate damage to both the vehicle and the house, according to a news release.

An elderly woman was inside the home at the time of the crash, seated just inches from where the vehicle struck. She was not injured, fire officials said.

The driver, an adult male, refused medical attention at the scene.

The Woodstock Building Department inspected the home for structural damage, while Nicor Gas addressed a minor natural gas leak caused by the collision. Officials confirmed the home remains habitable, according to the news release.

The Woodstock Police Department is investigating the crash.
