Elderly Man Hit, Killed While Standing Outside His Vehicle in Bull Valley

The crash remains under investigation.

A 67-year-old Woodstock man was hit and killed while standing outside his parked vehicle with his headlights off Monday evening on Mason Hill Road in Bull Valley--a roadway without lights and a 50 mph speed limit, the Northwest Herald reports.

The McHenry County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Fausto Alcocer who died as a result of injuries to his spinal cord, chest and abdomen.

The crash occurred at 5:50 p.m. Monday when a 58-year-old Marengo woman who was westbound in the 6900 block of Mason Hill Road struck Alcocer’s parked 1999 Ford Escort, which subsequently struck Alcocer, the newspaper reports.

He was transported to Centegra Medical Center in McHenry where he was pronounced dead at 6:20 p.m.
