Green Drinks McHenry County meets the first Wednesday of each month

Our next gathering is March 2nd, from 5pm - 7pm

Program: Ellen Phillips, Countryside U of I Extension, "Changing Manure Streams: A project to move manure from landfills to composters."

Ellen will discuss a project to decrease the amount of manure currently going to landfills by working with composters to identify stables surrounding their location and developing economical “Manure Runs” to have the manure hauled to the composter.

As a Crop Systems Educator in Northeastern Illinois, Ellen’s programs have focused on soil management, manure management, composting, forage, pasture and grazing management.  Ellen holds a B.S. in agronomy with an emphasis on soil fertility from the University of Illinois and a M.S. in soil management from Iowa State University.  She is member of the Soil Science Society of America, International Soil Science Society, and American Society of Agronomy.”

About GD McHenry County: The McHenry County Green Drinks group gathers monthly upstairs at Duke's Alehouse & Kitchen, 110 N Main Street in Crystal Lake. We welcome folks from all over McHenry County. (oh, heck - we'll welcome you even if you're from the Windy City... or Wisconsin... or wherever! :-) Make new connections, learn new environmental information, and have fun!

Preset drink menu includes fun, food and friends, info and inspiration, business and pleasure. Come talk about “greening” the future with others. Must be 21 to purchase alcohol - non-alcoholic drinks are available, of course!

We have an information table set up, and you are welcome to bring information about your green products and services each month to share. 

Additional parking is available at the train station.
