The Shelter Volunteer Training Class is a two hour class offered at Family Dog Center training facility.

- Promote the use of dog handling skills built around
Positive Reinforcement training techniques. - Prevent injury to dogs caused by incorrect and harmful techniques and tools.
- Ease rescue dog's transition into its new permanent home.
- Make volunteers job easier by teaching consistent dog handling.
- Prevent further abuse to rescue dogs.
Student Profile and Prerequisites
This course is intended for current shelter volunteers and those interested in becoming shelter volunteers. No dog training experience is necessary.

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to understand safe and humane dog handling methods, understand basic dog behavior, and be familiar with safe
and proper use of various dog handling and training equipment. Placement assistance, at an approved Safe Haven shelter, is available for those not currently volunteering with a Shelter.
Registration
The class is available to the general public at a cost of $15.00 per student.
