Family, Friends of Crash Victims Disgusted After Grisly Photos Surface on Facebook

Matt Summers, 41, of Crystal Lake, and Miranda Valles, 21, of Downers Grove, died early Sunday in a crash on I-290 near Hillside.

The friends and family members of a man and woman who were killed in a motorcycle crash early Sunday have requested photos of the grisly crash be taken down off Facebook, CBS Chicago reports.

Matt Summers, 41, of Crystal Lake, was driving his motorcycle west on I-290 near Mannheim Road in Hillside when he struck a concrete median, according to Suburban Life Publications. He and a passenger, Miranda Valles, 21, of Downers Grove, were killed in the crash.

They were both pronounced dead at the scene.

And now only days later, as family and friends are still grieving, photos from the accident scene have surfaced on Facebook that show the bodies of Valles and Summers, according to CBS Chicago.

Frankie Vandor, the boyfriend of Valles, called the posts “disrespectful, ignorant, disgusting.”

“No one needs to see that,” Vandor told CBS Chicago.

Friends and family have contacted Facebook, asking the social media site to pull the pics, but have received the following response: “We reviewed the photo you reported for containing graphic violence and found it doesn’t violate our community standards.”

According to Facebook policies, things that are not allowed on the social media site include nudity or other sexually suggestive content and content that contains self-harm or excessive violence. In the past, Facebook has removed photos of breast-feeding mothers.
