Flooding Photos: Chain O' Lakes Neighborhoods Underwater, Algonquin Braces As River Rises

MCHENRY COUNTY, IL - From downtown Algonquin to neighborhoods along the Chain O' Lakes, flooding has hit McHenry County hard. As of Monday morning, the Fox River had reached 12.3 feet at the Algonquin Tailwater, which is almost three feet above the river's flood stage. The river is expected to rise a bit more before it will recede.

The village of Algonquin had cordoned off a portion of Riverfront Park in downtown Algonquin Friday morning due to flooding.

Lake Street Park, located on the northern edge of Pistakee Lake in Johnsburg, was completely underwater, as was a portion of North Lake Street and many homes throughout the neighborhood.
Sand was available along North Lake Street on the northwestern edge of Pistakee Lake in Johnsburg Monday morning. It appeared sandbags had not stopped floodwaters from coming up to homes in many neighborhoods along the Chain O' Lakes.
