Free Movie Night in Crystal Lake Includes Ice Cream Eating Contest at Main Beach
Families can compete for ice cream bragging rights before watching "Zootopia 2" under the stars Aug. 14.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Crystal Lake residents can enjoy more than just a movie during the city’s upcoming Movie in the Park event featuring Zootopia 2.
Before the film begins Friday at Crystal Lake Main Beach, families can compete in the Crystal Lake Dunkin’/Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream Eating Contest to see who can finish their treat the fastest.
The free contest is open to children ages 6 to 11, but advance registration is required. The 6- to 7-year-old division is already sold out, with limited spots remaining for ages 8-9 and 10-11.

Movie night activities begin at 6:30 p.m., with the movie starting at dusk at Main Beach, 300 Lakeshore Drive. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets or lawn chairs and enjoy an evening under the stars.
Food will also be available from food trucks including Kissed by Fire and My Funnelcake. The event is free to attend.
