Goodwill Opens Free Community Resource Room In McHenry

Services offered include free computer usage, free training courses, and free help with job searching and identifying community resources.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - From Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois: Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois has opened a Community Resource Room in the McHenry Goodwill for free public use. Services offered include free computer usage, free training courses, and free assistance with job searching and identifying community resources.

The Community Resource Room has 10 computers with internet, a printer, fax, phone line, projector and a Resource Specialist to help community members. Training classes held in conjunction with community partners include Basic Computer Skills, Veterans Benefits, Creating a Budget, Polishing a Resume, and much more. Training providers are welcome to use the room to offer training courses to community members. Employers are encouraged to use the room for recruitment events.

The Community Resource Room will allow Goodwill to offer training as well as allow non-profits and employers access to the room to train and recruit individuals in the community. Courtney Geiger, Goodwill’s Director of Mission Services states, “We are thrilled to open this Resource Room and work with the great partner agencies in McHenry County to offer additional services to the residents of this area. We look forward to serving individuals and the community.”

Goodwill’s Community Resource Room is open each Monday from 2 pm to 7 pm and Tuesday through Friday from 12 pm to 5 pm. For a full training calendar, please see Goodwill’s website at www.goodwillni.org/events-calendar or call the Resource Room at (815) 322-0015.
