Groundhog Days Returns to Woodstock: Schedule of Events

Will Woodstock Willie see his shadow this Groundhog Day?

Woodstock Willie will rule on Tuesday whether there will be six more weeks of winter or if we will have an early spring. Here is a look at the schedule of events for this week’s Groundhog Days festival in Woodstock.

  • Feb. 1: Making of Groundhog Day from 5 to 8 p.m. at Woodstock Public Library. There will be a viewing of the library’s Groundhog Day display featuring photographs, scrapbooks and more from the making of the movie. Light refreshments will be served.
  • Feb. 1: Cheryl Niemo & the Down Home Boys will perform at Main Street Pour House, 214 Main Street in Woodstock, from 7 to 9 p.m. More info is available here.
  • Feb. 2: Groundhog Day Prognostication will be held at Woodstock Square starting at 7:07 a.m. on Tuesday. Hundreds will brave the weather and gather on the Woodstock Square to see Woodstock Willie emerge from his tree trunk home. More information is available here.
  • Feb. 2: Groundhog Day Breakfast will be held immediately following the prognostication at the Woodstock Moose Lodge #1329, 406 Clay St. in Woodstock. More information is available here.
  • Feb. 2: A walking tour of the filming sites for the movie Groundhog Day, Bob Hudgins, who was the location manager for the film, leads the walk around Woodstock. The walk will start at 9 a.m. at the Moose Club, 406 Clay Street, Woodstock. More information is available here.
  • Feb. 6: District 200 Education Foundation will be hosting a Groundhog Mardi Gras from 5:30 to 11 p.m. at Starline Factory, 306 Front St. in Harvard. Tickets are $60. More information is available here.
