CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A Crystal Lake South High School coach and teacher was placed on paid administrative leave last week due to "inappropriate communication" he had with a juvenile student, authorities told the Northwest Herald. The Department of Health and Family Services contacted the Crystal Lake Police Department last week in regards to the communication, and police told District 155 officials Tuesday morning they'd in turn launched an investigation into Jay Mueller.

Mueller didn't coach the soccer team's Tuesday game against Burlington Central, the school's athletic director Jason Bott told the paper.

The district said in a statement last week it is cooperating fully with the police investigation, adding, "We are unable to make further comment at this time." No charges have been filed against Mueller as of Monday afternoon, according to online court records.
