Harvard City Clerk Arrested for Possessing Child Porn

Andrew J. Wells was arrested Monday at his place of employement following a three-month investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff's Office

HARVARD, IL - The city clerk for Harvard was arrested Monday for possessing child pornography.

Andrew J. Wells, 54, of Harvard, has been charged with three counts of possession of child pornography following a three-month long investigation, according to police.

Detectives from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation after a tip was
received from a McHenry County resident, according to a news release. During the course of the investigation, images containing child pornography were found on an electronic device belonging to Wells.

An arrest warrant was obtained and Wells was taken into custody Monday at his place of employment, according to police.

An investigation is ongoing and anyone having information regarding Wells is encouraged to contact the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office. The city of Harvard is cooperating with the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office during this investigation, according to police.

Wells was taken to the McHenry County Correctional Facility and has since been released on bond. His bond was set at $40,000.

Well is next expected in court on Sept. 27.
