Health Officials Probe Outbreak Linked To D.C. Cobb's

The McHenry County Department of Health is asking those who visited the restaurant between Aug. 29 and Sept. 13 to fill out a survey.

MCHENRY, IL — The McHenry County Department of Health is investigating an outbreak that left 13 people with gastrointestinal illnesses after the ate at D.C. Cobbs in McHenry.

Health officials say managers with D.C. Cobb's are cooperating with the local health department, and are working with MCDH's environmental health staff regarding safe food handling practices, according to a news release from the health department.

Meanwhile, health officials are asking those who ate at the local restaurant between Aug. 29 and Sept. 13 to complete a survey, which is meant to help the health department collect data as they work to determine the cause of the illnesses and outbreak. Those who developed symptoms, as well as those who did not, are being asked to complete the survey.

The survey is HIPPA-compliant and all responses will remain confidential. The health department is advising anyone who is experiencing severe gastrointestinal symptoms to consult with their healthcare provider.

Those with questions or who are unable to access the survey can call 815-334-4500 and ask for a communicable disease nurse.
