Herbicide Treatment Scheduled for Tuesday on Crystal Lake
The treatment is meant to control specific, unwanted, submerged, non-native vegetation in the lake.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — Herbicide treatment will be completed on a portion of Crystal Lake on Tuesday. Park District officials said Hey and Associates, Inc. will be conducting herbicide treatments of areas within and adjacent to West Bay, at points around various no-wake buoys on the north side and east end of the lake and at an area near Gates 13 and 15 along the south shore, on the morning of July 2. The treatment areas in West Bay and adjacent to Gates 13 and 15 will include waters adjacent to the shoreline to approximately 150 feet offshore, and areas well offshore near the buoys to the north and east, according to a news release.
Public swimming areas are not included in this treatment, according to a news release. These areas are to be treated with a granular form of a selective aquatic herbicide to control specific, unwanted, submerged, non-native vegetation.
