Historic St. Charles Dairy Plant Could See New Life With $30K City Grant
City may fund infrastructure upgrades as developers plan retail and office space in long-vacant Riverside Avenue building.
The city of St. Charles is considering offering a $30,000 grant to help redevelop a long‑vacant historic building on Riverside Avenue that once housed the Chamber of Commerce and a dairy processing plant.
Developers working on the site hope to turn it into retail and office space as part of the downtown district revitalization, Shaw Local News Network is reporting. The grant would help cover infrastructure improvements such as electrical upgrades and a fire sprinkler system, and developers could qualify for more funding if retail criteria are met.
Final approval of the full grant package still requires a vote by the St. Charles City Council, according to the article.
