HobbyTown USA Preps For April 30 Closure

The Lake in the Hills store will close later this month.

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — HobbyTown USA on Pyott Road is set to close April 30, according to the Northwest Herald. The store sells knickknacks, art supplies, toys and puzzles, drones, remote control cars and family board and strategy games and also has an indoor race track where patrons race their remote control cars. Store manager Shawn Conley said business has been dying and he suspects children and teens are more into video games and smartphones and “just don’t seem to hobby,” according to the Northwest Herald.

As the store prepares to close in the coming weeks, items have been discounted. Retail priced items are 60% off while HobbyTown USA sale priced items will have an additional 20% taken off. Select items are 75% off, according to the Northwest Herald.
