Homes Evacuated After Natural Gas Leak In Cary

The natural gas leak was reported in the 300 block of Adam Court in Cary at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday.

CARY, IL — Two homes were evacuated in Cary following a natural gas leak in a residential area Tuesday morning.

The Cary Fire Protection District and Cary Police Department were called to the 300 block of Adam Court in Cary at about 10:30 a.m. Firefighters confirmed a residential service line was accidentally struck by landscapers working in the front yard of a home, according to a news release.

Nicor Gas responded and fire crews evacuated two homes directly adjacent to the leak, according to fire officials.

Nicor officials repaired the line by 11:30 a.m., and residents were allowed back into their homes shortly after. No injuries were reported.
