Hultgren and Ryan counter Underwood’s big outside $

Friday, Rep. Randy Hultgren welcomed House Speaker Paul Ryan to the 14th District at Spring Grove manufacturer Scot Forge as the Speaker sought to counter an unparalleled influx of cash into the campaign coffers of Hultgren’s opponent, Lauren Underwood. Underwood, whose claims that she’s served as a nurse were recently exposed as grossly exaggerated, is the darling of Hollywood elitists, such as Rosie O’Donnell.

Additionally, the Democratic National Committee has put a target on Rep. Hultgren’s back in a race they believe could help them put Nancy Pelosi back in control as Speaker of the House. Ryan (R-WI) is retiring from the position at the end of this term but still believes that the public is better served with someone in the Speaker’s seat who will help to get policies through on behalf of Americans. Those policies include tax cuts for the middle class, repair to the damage done to individuals’ health care by the Affordable Care Act, and immigration reform.

Pelosi has already vowed to continue a pattern of political obstruction and resistance that includes efforts to impeach President Donald Trump rather than work toward measures that would benefit the American people. Should she win, Underwood would represent an arrow in Pelosi’s quiver.

Hultgren, on the other hand, has vowed to continue working to improve the economy, jobs, health care and to work to find a lasting solution to the problem of illegal immigration.

“I’m very worried about what will happen if the Democrats take the House of Representatives back,” said Karen Tirio, who was at the event. “The Democrats have made it clear they have no desire to get things done. All they want to do is resist the very things the administration is doing to put Americans first, policies that are working.”

Ryan’s appearance may have come in the nick of time as Underwood is using all her money from outside the 14th District to distort Hultgren’s record and to lie about his achievements and goals.

“The claims she makes in her ads are grossly false,” said Tirio. “They’re really ridiculous – things taken out of context and blatant lies. But, if someone says a lie often enough, some people will begin to believe the lie. And Underwood is running these lies over and over again on television.”
