Improving Resume Topic of Library's Jobs Club

Job seekers looking to improve their resume and gain new search strategy techniques may find help at the Jobs Club meeting at the Crystal Lake Public Library.

The Jobs Club meets from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 31, at the library located at 126 Paddock St., Crystal Lake. The meeting is free and open to the public.

Lauren Milligan, founder and CEO of ResuMAYDAY based in Warrenville, is scheduled to discuss, “The Story Behind the Story – Personalizing Your Resume.”

Milligan has more than 10 years experience helping people craft resumes and has been a guest on Chicago radio and television programs, said Linda Price, public relations coordinator for the library.

ResuMAYDAY provides job search tools to help individuals develop an effective job search strategy in today’s world, where candidates must “wow” potential employers, Milligan states on her website.

Milligan will be talking about ways to enhance resumes with personal details; however, she will not be conducting individual resume reviews. The job –search strategist encourages a “No wimps allowed” approach to job hunting, said Beth Nickels-Wisdom, library co-facilitator of the Jobs Club.  

The library Jobs Club was started three years ago to form a support network for residents and non-residents looking for employment.

"The Crystal Lake Job Club started in 2009, and job hunters meet every three weeks to hear speakers on job hunting topics, and for informal networking and support," Nickels-Wisdom said.
