Incoming District 47 Kindergarten Students Can 'Meet The Bus' Wednesday

Incoming District 47 kindergarten students and their families are invited to attend the Transportation Joint Agreement’s (TJA) transportation open house on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

TJA is the shared bus service for school districts 47 and 155. The event will be held at TJA’s bus garage, located at 1204 S. McHenry Avenue in Crystal Lake.

In its third year, the “meet the bus” event provides an opportunity for incoming Kindergarten students to meet bus drivers, learn about bus safety, and even board and ride a school bus.

More than 350 attended the event last year, where children and their families visited stations to learn about first aid, bus safety equipment, safe seating, and more. One of the day’s highlights features Buster the Bus, a miniature “talking” school bus that teaches kids about bus safety.
