Investigators Uncover Meth Lab in McHenry County

A 44-year-old McHenry man now faces charges after authorities busted a meth lab on Tuesday.

MCHENRY, IL - A McHenry man faces charges after authorities uncovered a meth lab in McHenry County on Tuesday, police said. Bail has been set at $55,000 for Sean C. Blackmon, 44, who is charged with possession of methamphetamine manufacturing material and methamphetamine manufacturing waste following his arrest. The charges stem from a call the McHenry County Sheriff's Office received regarding the possible methamphetamine lab in unincorporated McHenry.

According to authorities, they received the tip at about 9:45 a.m. on Tuesday and responded to the 2900 block of Lincoln Road to investigate. When they arrived, they found equipment and supplies that appeared to be part of a methamphetamine lab, according to a news release from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Members of the Illinois State Police Methamphetamine Response Team and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit also responded to the home. During a search of the residence, investigators found "items that are commonly associated with manufacturing methamphetamine," police said.

Blackmon was taken into custody and remains in custody as of Wednesday morning at the McHenry County Correctional Facility.

He is next expected in court at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
