Abe Gonzalez, 17, was last seen at a party near Slocum Lake south of Island Lake, police said. His body was recovered Friday.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — A 17-year-old Island Lake boy found dead in a marshy area last week died from drowning, according to preliminary autopsy results released last week by the Lake County Coroner's Office. Authorities searched for Abe Gonzalez for a week, after the teen was last seen at a party near Slocum Lake in Wauconda, and found his body Friday, covered in ice and submerged in the swamp, which was in an area just southwest of the lake.
Gonzalez was “highly intoxicated” when he walked away from the home in the 26700 block of North Morey Street in unincorporated Wauconda shortly after midnight on Nov. 1.
His body was found at about 11 a.m. on Nov. 8, authorities said.
