The lawsuit alleges a Grayslake auto repair shop failed to fix or warn a customer about a defective exhaust system.
CRYSTAL LAKE, IL — A wrongful death lawsuit has been filed against a Grayslake auto repair shop after two co-workers died from carbon monoxide poisoning inside a parked vehicle in Crystal Lake, according to Lake and McHenry County Scanner.
The lawsuit was filed by the mother of Yeisimar Morales-Sanchez, 20, of Crystal Lake, who was found dead alongside her coworker, Kirby Graham, 32, of Grayslake, on Nov. 4, 2025, according to the Lake & McHenry County Scanner. The lawsuit alleges Amerimex Mufflers, Brakes & Auto Repair failed to properly repair or warn Graham about a defective exhaust system that allowed dangerous levels of carbon monoxide to enter his vehicle and let him drive off with the defective exhaust.
The McHenry County Coroner's Office previously determined both deaths were accidental and caused by carbon monoxide toxicity.
