DUI Charges Filed In McHenry Motorcycle Crash
A motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash and a car driver involved in the crash now faces DUI charges, police said.
MCHENRY, IL — A 67-year-old Island Lake man faces drunken driving charges for causing a crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist early Thursday, authorities said.
The collision happened at about 2 a.m. at the intersection of Route 120 and Chapel Hill Road in McHenry when a gold 2011 Toyota Camry rear-ended a a grey 2018 Harley-Davidson that was stopped at the intersection, according to a news release from the McHenry Police Department. Both vehicles were headed south on Chapel Hill Road at the time of the crash.
Authorities say the driver of the motorcycle, a 37-year-old Antioch man, was taken to Northwestern Hospital in McHenry with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Toyota, Steven W. Foulk, 67, of Island Lake, was not injured.

Foulk was arrested and charged with aggravated driving under the influence, driving while under the influence and failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash, according to authorities. He was taken to the McHenry County Jail to await a bond hearing.
An earlier article, citing information posted on the Daily Herald, reported at least one person died in this crash but no fatalities have been reported, police said early Thursday afternoon.

The McHenry Police Department sent out an alert via Nixle at 3:21 a.m., telling drivers the intersection had been closed and to avoid the area due "to a traffic issue." The roadway has since reopened.
