Libertyville Board Approves $32M Plan For New Police Station
Village trustees authorize bonds and contractor as plans move forward to replace the department's aging 1968 facility.
LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Libertyville Village Board has approved plans to move forward with construction of a new $32.4 million police station, the largest public project in the village’s history.
Village trustees recently selected a contractor for the project, authorized the sale of $25 million in bonds and hired a firm to oversee construction, the Daily Herald is reporting. The planned 46,598-square-foot facility will replace the current police station, which was built in 1968 and no longer meets the department’s operational needs.
Police will temporarily relocate to an office building while the existing station at 200 E. Cooke Avenue is demolished and construction of the new facility begins, according to the article.
