The Cary Fire Protection District was called to 1340 Prairieview Parkway in Cary at 6:41 a.m. where they found a four-unit town home complex with a small fire showing on the outside of the end unit. Everyone in the end unit was able to safely get out before fire officials arrived at the scene and firefighters assisted in evacuating the three other units at the complex, according to a news release from the Cary Fire Protection District.
The fire moved from the exterior of the end unit into the home, between the walls and into the attic space, according to a news release. The blaze was determined to be under control just before 7 a.m.
The town home's owner told fire officials the residence was struck by lightning just before the blaze started, according to a news release. There was an active thunderstorm in the area at the time of the incident.
