LITH Teen Charged In Heroin Overdose Death In Crystal Lake

The Lake in the Hills man and a Crystal Lake man have been charged in connection with the overdose death.

CRYSTAL LAKE, IL - A 18-year-old Crystal Lake man and a 22-year-old Lake in the Hills man have been charged with providing the drugs that killed a 20-year-old man earlier this year. Authorities said they found the 20-year-old dead in a home in the 1700 block of Nashville Lane in Crystal Lake on May 18. Police learned during a seven-week investigation heroin was delivered to the man just prior to his death and his cause of death was determined to be due to a heroin overdose, according to a news release from the Crystal Lake Police Department.

John H. Galloway, 18, formerly of 1725 Hartford Lane in Crystal Lake, and Seth R. Ferguson, 22, formerly of 527 Delaware Lane in Lake in the Hills, were both charged with drug-induced homicide, unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. Galloway, who was already, in custody at the McHenry County Jail, and Ferguson, who was in custody at the Cook County Jail, are being held on a $1 million bond on the new drug-induced homicide charges, according to police.

The investigation into the man's overdose death in Crystal Lake included several interviews and on Friday, arrest warrants were issued for Galloway and Ferguson. Both men were were served the warrants while in custody.

The next court date for both has been set for July 21 in McHenry County.
