Local Kids Enjoy a Special Lunch with the Lifeguard

Crystal Lake Park District Beach Staff planned a fun-filled day

Recently a sweet picture was shared to the Crystal Lake Park District Facebook page that inspired our beach staff to want to do something special for the kids in the picture. Rylan and Cassidy were pictured practicing their lifeguard skills during a day at Crystal Lake Main Beach. When we followed up with their mom, we heard that Rylan hopes to be a lifeguard one day and has spent some time getting to know our beach staff.

We extended an invitation for 'Lunch with the Lifeguard' and Rylan, Cassidy and their mom came by Main Beach for the day. Upon arrival, the kids received a lifeguard t-shirt, a hat and a whistle
(sorry, Mom!). LIfeguard/Swim Instructor Emma and Beach Manager/Swim Instructor Jill planned a special day for Rylan and Cassidy. Highlights included a behind the scenes tour of Main Beach, Whistle Drills, a presentation on how the CPR mannequin helps staff train to save lives
and a chance to sit in the Lifeguard chair. They finished the day with a picnic lunch on the beach with staff courtesy of The Cottage.

We look forward to the day that Rylan is ready to join our beach staff but until then we know we can find him keeping an eye on the waters of Crystal Lake!
